Sprained Ankle Treatment Options

A sprained ankle is an extremely common injury. So common, in fact, that millions of people every year visit their doctor, because of an an ankle sprain. Would it surprise you to learn that a sprained ankle does not need to be so common (25,000 a day or over 9 million a year)? In fact, a sprained ankle can, in most cases, be completely avoided.

When people hear about a sprained ankle, the first thing they assume is that it has to be a sport's injury. But, that is not true. Although there are many sports related sprained ankles, millions of people who sprain an ankle were not playing sports at all. They may have just tripped or taken a bad step in daily life.

In fact, sprained ankles occur to people of all ages and all walks of life. At Rehab Ankle Sprain.com, we want to help you understand why the number of sprained ankles are so high and how you can reduce your risk as well as significantly reduce your healing time if you have a sprained ankle. It is all related and once you understand these simple facts, you will have the power to take control of the situation with a proper sprained ankle treatment.

First, the reason for the high number of sprains is that most people have allowed their ankles to become extremely weak and stiff over the years. For most of human history, we walked with minimal footwear or even barefoot over uneven ground. We walked on rocks, grass, sand, mud, tundra, etc our whole lives. That means our ankles constantly had to balance and keep us steady as we walked and ran over the land. That made our ankles extremely strong and flexible, which is exactly what they are supposed to be for proper body mechanics.

Now, think about how we walk around today. We wear extremely stiff shoes that barely let our ankles move at all. On top of that, we walkover almost perfectly even ground. We walk on wood, carpet and cement almost all our lives.

That means there is no opportunity for our ankles to stay strong and mobile. Instead, they gradually become weak and stiff. So, it should be no surprise that if we lose our balance or step on something that is not perfectly even, our ankle twists and we get a sprain.

Okay, so that is the first thing to be understood. Our ankles are weak and are constantly at risk for sprains, because we no longer walk as we were meant to with minimal footwear over uneven, natural surfaces. We have lost touch with our natural surroundings and so when anything out of the ordinary occurs, we can easily get a sprained ankle. The reason it is so important to understand this is because it is the key to the most effective sprained ankle treatment.

Okay, so what if you have a sprained ankle, what now? Well, there are a few treatment options. First, there is R.I.C.E. (rest, ice, compression, elevation). This is the least proactive method available to you, because you basically just rest and ice your ankle and that's it. You keep doing this until you can walk again. It can take weeks or even months and that is all this ankle treatment offers you.

There are a huge number of problems with this sprained ankle treatment, because it does absolutely nothing to actually heal your ankle. Remember, your ankle got injured in the first place, because it was weak and stiff. Rest and ice alone will never strengthen your weak ankle and it cannot improve range of motion. Plus, it is now understood that ice is only effective for the first two days. After that, you are only effectively helping your ankle from rest.

Furthermore, you will have scar tissue development from the injury. When ligaments get damaged and you do nothing to break it up, scar tissue will develop and seriously diminish your ankle strength and range of motion in the future. That means you r ankle will always be weaker and more stiff than before your injury. And guess what? That means you will be at a higher risk of a sprained ankle in the future.

And, as we said before, rest and ice do not and cannot strengthen weak ligaments that have been damaged or torn. Further, rest and ice cannot heal the neuromuscular control damage from the injury. The list goes on and on, but the simple fact is that rest alone is totally inadequate as a good ankle treatment after a sprain. You simply have to more proactive in your healing process to get good results. If you decide to just rest and ice your ankle, you can expect your healing time to be a few months. And even after that, you may still have pain for a long time (some people report pain years after a badly sprained ankle).

Instead of that, we strongly recommend a sprained ankle treatment program that will actually heal all the damage from your injury. In other words, a proactive rehab program that will strengthen your ankle and properly heal the damage from the sprain.

We developed the H.E.M. Sprained Ankle Treatment to do just that. It is an at home ankle treatment that requires no equipment and properly heals all the damage you will have from an ankle injury. The reason it works so well is because it is active rehab. It works to strengthen the ligaments in your ankle, so you get back to full strength. That means you will not need an ankle brace, tape or wraps that only serve to immobilize and further weaken your ankles.

H.E.M. will also dramatically improve your range of motion, which will allow you to walk and run much more safely and naturally. H.E.M. also does an excellent job of lowering your future risk of injury while also improving balance, lateral speed, etc. With stronger, more flexible ankles that move naturally, you will be much more confident in your movement, because your ankles won't just twist at the smallest trip or twist.

But, the best thing about H.E.M. is that it works so much faster than R.I.C.E. How much faster? Most people report a healed ankle in about a week by using H.E.M. instead of 4-8 weeks or longer with rest and ice alone. And with H.E.M., the pain is gone forever. It does not haunt the person for the next few months or years.

And perhaps most importantly, people do not report sprained ankle injuries once they are healed. H.E.M. continues to strengthen their ankles to the point that their risk of injury is significantly reduced. The stiffness and bruising declines rapidly as well so people can get back to their lives quickly. People are consistently astounded when they heal faster than the average person, but it is just common sense. The ankle responds best to active rehab. That is by fat the best kind of ankle treatment. If you have a sprained ankle, we hope you will give H.E.M. a try. It is guaranteed to work or your money back.
